What is Idea Pond?

Toad for Sybase's development has always been driven by its customers, and our customers have many (often conflicting) ideas. It's important for us to understand and focus on the new features and enhancements that are most important to our customers. Idea Pond is a site where you can tell us what you want, and tell us how important it is by submitting, voting, and commenting on ideas.

Idea Pond is just for submitting enhancement suggestions. If you need help or find a bug, please contact Quest Support. You can also join our forums for assistance. If you have a request that is specific to the Toad Beta version, please use the Toad Beta forum.


How do I add an avatar (profile picture)?

You can add a profile picture through Gravatar. The signup process is very easy: just register the email address you use to login to Idea Pond, select a username and password, upload a picture, and click on it to assign the picture to your profile.


How do I change my email notification settings?

When you log in to Idea Pond you are automatically subscribed to the Weekly Digest, a list of new ideas for the week. In addition, you will receive notifications when someone comments on an idea you posted or its status changes. You can change your settings to receive an email as soon as any new idea is posted, or you can completely opt out of email notifications.

What do the statuses mean?

Idea Pond uses the following idea statuses:

Active

Idea has not been evaulated by the Dev team. Users should continue to vote and comment on the idea.

Complete

Idea has been implemented in Toad. We assign this status as soon as the request is available in the latest beta, which means that an idea may be marked "Complete" before it is available in the current, official release.

Closed

Idea is already available in Toad, has been rejected by the Dev team, or is a duplicate of another idea.


How many votes must an idea receive for the Dev team to approve it?

There isn't a magic number that guarantees your idea will be approved. We generally wait to see how well an idea is received before we consider implementing it. In other cases, if we see a great idea that we can implement easily, we may approve it soon after it is posted. We will update the status as soon as it is approved or implemented, and you will receive an email when the status changes for your idea (unless you have opted out of notifications).


Can I use my Toad Yahoo Group or Quest Support account to log in?

You can use a variety of accounts to log in to Idea Pond, including Yahoo, Twitter, and Google. Click Sign In (not Register) to use one of these accounts. If you already have a Yahoo account for the Toad Yahoo Group, you can use that account to log in to Idea Pond. Quest Support accounts are not supported at this time.


What does the number in the Implemened In field mean?

When we add an idea to Toad, we include the product version in which it is available in the "Implemented In" field. We assign the Complete status as soon as the request is available in the latest beta, which means that an idea may be marked Complete before it is available in the current, official release.
